Project Fame back with star-studded concert in Benin

As Banky W., Timaya, Iyanya, Dr. Sid, Praiz trill audience

Africa major and leading musical reality TV talent competition that sees 15 contestants battle for the best musical act in Africa, MTN Project Fame is back. 

The curtain rose on Season 7 of West Africa’s most entertaining musical reality show, at the weekend, in Benin City. Starting with a star-studded concert, that featured Banky W., Timaya, Iyanya, Dr. Sid, Praiz and other superstars, at Emporium, in GRA, as there is a growing brightness that this year’s edition will go down as the best ever. 

Timaya and Banky W. who were recently unveiled as two of several high-profile MTN ambassadors added spice to the concert. Their charismatic stage performances asides Iyanya’s compelling unique dance steps and voice resonated with thousands of Project Fame’s fans who attended the concert.

Commenting about the concert and the reality show, Iyanya said “It’s amazing how fame and fortune come quickly”. He added, “I was just like everyone here in the audience some years ago, but see what Project Fame and MTN has made of me”.

Meanwhile, the fun and great artistry did not end with these two artistes. Timaya, Dr. Sid and Praiz thrilled the audience, as thousands of youths turned out to be part of the scout for exceptional superstars.

It will be recalled that auditions have already been held in other West African countries where thousands of youth seeking to build a career in music were in attendance.

Now in its seventh season, the constellations of super-stars who have grown through the rank are set to bring Nigeria to a stand-still with their show .

Natty Of 'New Masquerade' Is Dead

 Saturday, June 7, 2014 has been flocked with bad news as yet another Nigerian who brought excitement to our homes, one of Nollywood’s oldest hands and veteran screen personality, Romanus Uchenna Amuta (aka Natty) from the popular Nigerian 80s comedy New Masquerade, is dead. 

Natty, struck with partial paralysis, had been suffering from the ailment for quite a while without anyone coming to his aid until he eventually passed on in the early hours of today.
Before his death, Natty had cried for help, but it seems no one came to his rescue until he bowed to death. The veteran actor was part of the popular TV series, which ruled the airwaves in the 80s. 
Earlier today, Dora Akunyili, a former Director General of NAFDAC, died of cancer in far away India.

Nadia Buari and Jim Iyke still in Love?

After several speculations went viral that star actress, Nadia Buari and Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke have broken up, the couple are yet to come out to debunk these claims.

However, on Saturday, Nadia shared pictures of herself, and Jim Iyke jet skiing. Insinuating that these pictures are recent, maybe the actress don't want to come out straight to debunk the claims, and she decided to quell the rumors that she has broken up with the Nollywood star.

Kate Henshaw, Jennifer Lopez, Warns Women About Butts Enlargement

Nollywood diva, Kate Henshaw, has called on Nigerian female to desist from the act of butt implant as she describes it as being very dangerous their health.
Henshaw advised the ladies to always try to appreciate the way God has created them and stop wanting to enlarge any part of their body all for selfish gains which in turn will not add any value to their lives.

The actress emphasized that instead of ladies spending their resources on butts implant, the best way to stay fit, is by having a good and regular exercise.
In acknowledging the same fact, American music superstar, Jennifer Lopez, told an Australian radio station that that she does whatever it takes to keep herself in shape as long as that doesn’t include plastic surgery.
The singer added that it’s always about getting out to the gym or getting and eating healthy, will help keep a woman’s fitness together.

Kefee Has Limited Chances Of Survival- Medical Doctor Says

Nigerian Branama crooner, Kefee is really in a critical condition and from information gathered, the six months pregnant singer has been diagnosed as having pre-eclampsia – pregnancy induced high blood pressure. This was noticed after She had embarked on a 14-hour flight to Chicago for an event but went into coma, forcing the plane to land in Los Angeles so that she could be urgently attended to.

This is what a medical doctor in Nigeria, Dr Adeyefa, shedding more light on Kefee’s condition, says
"Kefee is in a precarious situation because of the six months pregnancy. If the foetus had been nine months, the doctors would have removed the baby and saved the mother and child.
"As it is now, not only will the baby not survive because the carrier is in coma, Kefee may also lose her life from further complications. The chances of the mother surviving is narrow, while the kid has a narrower chance. I urge Nigerians to pray for her, that's all she needs.

Tiwa Savage dedicates award to spouse at MAMA

The much talked about 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards, has finally lit up Durban, South Africa on Saturday 7th June 2014 at the ICC Centre.

The musical concert which started from celebs dazzling looks on the red carpet to the electrifying stage, wowed the audience, as top Nigerian musicians performed brilliantly.  

Mavins first lady, Tiwa Savage wowed the crowd as she praised her husband and manager, at the just concluded MAMA awards.

The Eminado singer who won the award for Best Female dedicated her award to her husband thanking him for all the hard work in her career so far. She said, “I just want to thank God, fans, 323 Entertainment, my label, Mavin my producer and boss, Don Jazzy and finally, I want to say thank you to the most handsome and amazing husband in the whole wide world, TeeBillz, who has put so much to make our story a success thank you and I love you very much”.

Why I christened my twins Nollywood and Hollywood….Femi Ogedengbe

If there is one guy in Nollywood that a lot of people fear to dare, it’s the tall and very muscular actor cum movie producer Femi Ogedengbe.

The lanky tall Nollywood producer is back in the news again as this time, he has been reported to have been criticised for naming his twins Nollywood and Hollywood.

In reaction to this, the producer angrily took to his Facebook page to blast those who criticised him over choice of names for his twins, saying ‘’ The level of hypocrisy in Nigeria is just too high, how do I explain the attack I and my wife have received on the internet for adding Nollywood & HOLLYWOOD among the names we gave our bundles of Joy: King Praise Micheal Victor Tochukwu Jesuogbo Iyinoluwa Hollywood & Queen Grace Michelle Victoria Peculia Chimamaka Jesukomeh Opeoluwa Nollywood. 

I guess all those who condemned us have been so blinded by Hatred that they couldn't see all other names but the Hollywood and Nollywood. Anyway thanks for noticing me my wife and our children But What is really bad in those two names? 

Yes, there are always two sides to a coin and everything in life is to me is like an abstract art work of a genius. It always comes with different interpretations depending on how every one perceives it from there stand point.

Most people who criticize the names gave their reason, they said; the two industries (HOLLYWOOD & NOLLYWOOD) are synonymous with immorality. And I wonder if they are truly alright at all because if they are normal they will know that despite some of the negative reports from Nollywood, It is safe for Nigerians to declare Nollywood day because this is an industry that has consistently put our name in the world map and when you are fortunate to travel out of Nigeria, then you will realize that we Nigerians are the only people that are not proud of NOLLYWOOD. 

If we choose to look inward then questions like; where and What would have been of Names like, Tonto Dike, Mercy Johson, Jim Iyke Kevin Ikeduba, Odun Adekola, in a country where unemployment is at it highest level. 

But thanks to Nollywood, I am now Femi Ogedengbe! It is a pity that people will seat in the comfort of their homes; hide behind the freedom that such platform as Facebook and all other social network provide to judge the logic behind the actions of people they don't know. 

Here in Nigerian there is a town called Umuagwo & Umueke (descendants of snakes) and you don't think that is weird enough but some of you whose family names are something around the neighborhood of Esubiyi,Sango these and Ogun that Join in condemning a name that has its origin in such a vibrant industry as Nollywood that has engage more Nigerian youth in one way or the other and have helped in no small measure in putting smile on our collective faces.
